Q :
I would like to marry however cannot afford to do so. Can I consider the divorced maid working in my house a slave and therefore have a sexual relationship with her?
A :

Firstly, it must be understood that the correct definition of a slave is someone who was captured as a hostage during war, who was bought from a market or whose parents were slaves. The maid who works in your house is a free woman who works for you and receives a salary; therefore she is not a slave. You should treat her fairly and you should not look at her in a sinful way. If you cannot afford to marry read the following Prophetic Saying: "يَا مَعْشَرَ الشَّبَابِ‏ ‏مَنْ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ الْبَاءَةَ ‏فَلْيَتَزَوَّجْ فَإِنَّهُ ‏أَغَضُّ ‏لِلْبَصَرِوَأَحْصَنُ لِلْفَرْجِ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَعَلَيْهِ بِالصَّوْمِ فَإِنَّهُ لَهُ‏ وِجَاءٌ ". This refers to both the financial and physical capability for marrying. May Allah help you to be an obedient worshiper and protect you from the temptations of Satan.
